John Denver was a superstar artist who was a hit with his pop-folk songs and many of them based in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was raised in Roswell new Mexico, but was enthralled by Colorado. The singer-songwriter eventually made his way to Aspen. A few traveled towards Colorado due to Denver's famous anthems to his adopted state. G. Brown, curator of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame said that John Denver is the only performer to embody Colorado. Denver was the Hall of Fames' inaugural inductee was recognized by the honor in 2011. He is the face of Colorado for many people all over the world. Through my many travels, I've encountered many people who are not from Colorado. They will say, "Oh John Denver!" whenever they learn that you're from Colorado. Brown clarified. Denver's debut Top 10 hit as a solo artist after a short period of performing with small folk-based groups included Take Me Home Country Roads co-written with Bill Danoff. Danoff was credited with Johnny Cash as the inspiration for the track, however Denver discovered that it was destined to be a huge hit after the song was first heard by him. The song was recorded within a couple of days of having performed in Washington D.C. before an large crowd who were very appreciative.
