John Denver was a superstar artist who was a hit with his pop-folk songs and many of them based in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. grew up in Roswell new Mexico, but discovered love for Colorado. He eventually settled in Aspen. A few took the road to Colorado following the Denver's cult songs for his home state. G. Brown, curator of Colorado Music Hall of Fame stated that John Denver is the only musician to truly embody Colorado. Denver is the Hall of Fames' initial inductee, was honoured with this honor in 2011. To many, Denver is the image of Colorado. Through my travels, I've met people who are from New Zealand or the other side. If you inform people you're from Colorado the first words they'll use are Oh John Denver. Brown explained. Take Me Home Country Roads written by Bill Danoff and Denver after his brief time with folk bands which was Denver's first Top 10 solo hit. Danoff initially wrote the song using Johnny Cash's songs in mind, but Denver was aware from the very first time he heard earlier versions that it was going to be an instant hit. Just a few days after performing to an excited audience at Washington D.C., the performer recorded the track.
